Solar heat for industrial processes (SHIP) continues its steady growth. Thirty-two per cent of the world’s energy demand is used by industry, and around 75% of this is for heat. Of industrial heat use, some 30% is low temperature heat (<150 °C), which is particularly suitable to be produced by solar heat. There are several industries that benefit from different applications of solar thermal process heating. Among them are greenhouses, mining companies, dairies, brewing companies and other food industries – to name just a few.

Solar heating has a significant global impact in the production of clean energy. Annually, solar heating saves more than 40 million tons of oil and reduces CO2 emissions over 140 million tons.

Meriaura Energy’s contribution to these savings continues to grow, and we have for example delivered the largest solar heat plant for industrial process heat in Europe.

Europe is leading by example. Currently the leading markets for solar district heating are Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Austria and China, with growing solar heating markets like Poland and France catching up.
