Meriaura Group acquires a solar power systems provider Rasol

Meriaura Group Oyj acquires Rasol Oy’s stock through a share exchange. On December 1, 2023, Rasol, one the leading Finnish providers of solar electricity and real estate energy solutions, will join Meriaura Group’s renewable energy business area.

Together with Meriaura Energy Oy, which supplies large scale renewable energy solutions, Rasol expands the offering of Meriaura Group’s Renewable Energy business. As a part of larger, publicly listed corporation, Rasol gains stronger shoulders for it’s next growth leap.

The solar thermal system in Issoudun, France, comprising almost 900 collectors and covering 13,000 m², is the second largest solar heating system in France and the second largest solar thermal system for industrial process heating in Europe.

The heat from the system is sold to a malt drying factory operated by Malteries Franco-Suisses by Kyotherm Solar specializing in the third-party financing of renewable heat and energy efficiency projects.

Meriaura Energy delivered the largest part of the whole solar thermal plant including the solar collector field, civil work, piping and design. The plant was installed in 2021.

As our systems are usually installed on the ground, we aim to ensure that sustainability is prioritized throughout various project phases. Considerations include limited land resources, landscaping, and biodiversity loss.

By participating in the Nefco Biodiversity Pilot Programme, we want to assure that biodiversity will be considered through-out the whole sales-to-operation process, and even until the decommission of the system, by us and our customers.

The solar thermal plant, installed in 2021, is the property of newHeat. The solar heating system, which comprises 112 collectors and covers an area of 1661 m2, delivers heat to the district heating network for the city of Pons, France, managed by Dalkia.
